Despite its name, it does not contain oil. Our hemp essential oil is obtained by steam distillation . This consists of passing water vapor through the selected part of the plant, carrying the aromatic plant molecules with it. Thus, we obtain a mixture of water vapor and different biochemical components. This mixture is then condensed , which means that we will allow the separation of the water and the oil since these two parts cannot be mixed in the liquid state. .
We therefore recover the essential oil present because its density is lower than that of water. The remaining water is called hydrosol or floral water.
It takes approximately one ton of French hemp to obtain one liter of essential oil. Which explains its rarity and its price comparable to that of rose essential oil!
Our hemp oil contains more than 200 compounds, some of which are recognized in aromatherapy for their very interesting properties such as sesquiterpenes, monoterpenes and terpenes. Cannabinoids are insoluble in water, so our oil does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol, the cannabis molecule.
